Welcome to the Marquis

A strikingly contemporary restaurant with rooms. Set in an idyllic Kentish village, in the undulating hills of Alkham, resting neatly in the valley. It is overlooked by St Anthony’s Church, which dates back to the 12th Century. It is located just 5 miles from Dover and Folkestone.

The restaurant is a revelation. Head Chef Andrew ‘Drew’ King provides seasonally inspired and locally sourced menus which are as fresh as they are imaginative, and the elegant 21st century styling is exceptional.
With new General Manager David Harris now at the helm this stunning restaurant with rooms has entered a whole new era. With over 17 years in luxury hotels, he has brought his exemplary experience to make this one of Kent’s most sort after hospitality experiences.

All bedrooms offer comfy beds with pocket sprung mattresses and are swathed in the finest cotton. Sumptuous fabrics dress windows and chairs. And an eclectic collection of art completes the mood, the mix and the personality that makes this place unique.

Don’t just take our word for it…

“Perfect accommodation and food”

“We stayed at the hotel on the 4 course tasting menu and breakfast deal. The room was faultless (it was the one with the small decking area). There was a queensize bed which was lovely and comfortable and a large bathroom with bath and separate shower. There were coffee and tea making facilities and water. We went to the bar area before our meal and there was a great atmosphere. The drinks are averagely priced and we were served promptly. The food in the restaurant was of a very good quality and we were very pleased with the service. There was plenty of time between courses and it wasn’t rushed. We both had the full English for breakfast which was delicious and the service was great. We will definitely be returning.”
