Welcome to the Marquis
FINE DINING RESTAURANT WITH LUXURY ACCOMMODATION IN THE HEART OF KENT’S ALKHAM VALLEY
SITUATED BETWEEN DOVER AND FOLKESTONE
Luxury Kent Restaurant with Boutique Rooms
A 200-year-old former village inn has been converted into a luxury boutique hotel and fine dining restaurant in the heart of Kent’s picturesque Alkham Valley, near Dover and Folkestone. Nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Marquis offers a seasonally inspired menu created by Chef/Manager Stephen Piddock.
Supported by a team of chefs from some of the best restaurants in Kent, Stephen prides himself on his contemporary cuisine. The emphasis is on robust, fresh flavours and locally sourced ingredients – whether it’s the catch of the day landed by the local fishing boats, rabbit from the Alkham Valley, or wild herbs foraged straight from the countryside.
The Marquis was transformed into a fine dining restaurant with luxury boutique rooms near Folkestone following a £1.5 million renovation in 2008. The building has been stripped back to its original brickwork, extended, refurbished, and furnished to provide contemporary style and elegance in a rural setting.
Relax with an Overnight Stay
After an evening of fine food and wine, you can relax in boutique style luxury with an overnight stay in one of The Marquis’s ten individually designed bedrooms, all of which boast sumptuous furniture and fabrics, flat screen TV, contemporary bathrooms, towelling robes and the finest toiletries.
Luxury double rooms start at £89 per night, based on two sharing and including full English breakfast.
How to Get Here
The Marquis is just five minutes from the M20 in Folkestone and 10 minutes from the Channel Tunnel (Eurotunnel) and Dover’s ferry port and Dover’s cruise terminal, making it ideal for an overnight stay on the way to or returning from the Continent.
Don’t just take our word for it…
“Getaway with fine food!”
“The Marquis at Alkham has been on my bucket list for iced a year and finally I have booked to stay and it didn’t disappoint, quirky pub / restaurant with individualised rooms. Granby the bull dog soft toy greeted us in our room, to be put outside the door if we are in – made me smile. Lovely home made biscuits in the room, enough cushions on the bed to build a small wall, bathroom under the eaves, with 2 sinks!! Felt very lazy relaxing in the room drinking tea and looking at the view”
“I will recommend and although this has now been crossed off my bucket list I will be looking to return!”
