Kent Vineyards to Visit
There aren’t many better ways to spend a day than in the peaceful and picturesque setting of a vineyard, casually tasting all the wines there on offer. Kent has many vineyards and wineries and here’s a closer look at some of those.
The Chapel Down Winery
Located close to the picturesque market town of Tenterden, The Chapel Down Winery is one of the best in the country. Winning awards such as the Gold Award at the International Wine Challenge and the Gold Award at the Sommelier Wine Awards, you know the winery is pretty special. The winery is set amongst 22 acres of vineyards and offering guided tours, group tours and corporate visits, the winery provides visitors plenty to do. Tenterden Vineyard, Small Hythe Rd, Tenterden TN30 7NG
Established in 1969, this family run vineyard is home to 23 acres of vineyard. Producing 11 different types of grape, a wide range of award-winning wines are produced here including White, Red, Rose and Sparkling English wines. The vineyard is open to the public all year round with free admission and tastings available. There is a free self-guided tour available for those who just fancy the stroll, but for those who want a more involved experience, there are private tours also available. Gribble Bridge Ln, Biddenden, Ashford TN27 8DF
Hush Heath is set in over 400 acres of land and is well known for the award-winning English Sparkling wine it produces, Balfour Brut Rose. The setting couldn’t be more picturesque, set in the rolling hills of the Weald of Kent and both self-guided and guided tours are available. Guided tours include both the history of the estate as well as information on how the wine is made and finish with a tutored tasting of the wines made on site. Five Oak Ln, Staplehurst, Tonbridge TN12 0HT
Situated near Canterbury, Barnsole is a family run winery set on 7 acres of land. Both sparkling and still wines are produced here, and since establishment, Barnsole has been awarded the “Quality Wine” status and have won many awards in various regional and national competitions. Free tours are available, and no appointment is necessary. During the tour, you’ll learn how the wine is produced and at the end, there will be a free tasting session.
