The Marquis At Alkham Scoops Restaurant Of The Year Award
The Marquis at Alkham, the luxury restaurant-with-rooms in the heart of the Kentish countryside, is delighted to announce that its critically acclaimed restaurant has been awarded the title of ‘Restaurant Of The Year’ in the Taste of Kent Awards 2012.
The restaurant scooped the prestigious award sponsored by Visit Kent, beating strong local competition in the form of previous winner, The Mulberry Tree, and Elvey Farm. The award was presented at an exclusive ceremony held at Oakwood House Hotel in Maidstone on March 2nd. Nominees in the category were voted for by the public, with the ultimate winner decided following stringent judging by a panel of the county’s top food and wine experts.
Charlie Lakin, head chef at The Marquis At Alkham, comments: “We are thrilled and honoured to have been awarded the ‘Restaurant of The Year’ title. It is a wonderful feeling to achieve such recognition in Kent, a county that offers such high standards of hospitality and gastronomy. This award is a true testament to all the team’s hard work in ensuring that we represent Kent at its best to both locals and those visiting the area. The award means all the more to us because it is voted for by the people that matter most – our valued guests.”
This latest award comes at an exciting time for The Marquis as it has recently extended both its kitchen and its accommodation to incorporate four beautifully appointed new en-suite rooms, making it one of Kent’s most attractive and luxurious properties.
